I got up this morning and felt inspired by two things: The little canon 50mm 1.8 lens, and coffee, So I set out to work and this I what I present to you:
Earlier this week video sharing site YouTube added a video editing feature to the popular website. Though it’s not quite Final Cut Pro, the online editor does have a gamut of “quick fixes” including:
Rotate
Trim
Stabilize
Color temperature
Saturation
Contrast
Also included in classic Google style is the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button which attempts to correct the video for you. There are also a slew of video effects for you to play with though I wouldn’t recommend using most of them if you want people to watch your videos from start to finish. Google was nice enough to also include a library of free audio tracks to choose from though the current selection is quite limited.
I put this time lapse together yesterday, for no reason other than to test out a cheap intervalometer I picked up on eBay. This time lapse consists of approximately 600 shots at 2 second intervals. Images were captured using a canon 60D DSLR and this intervalometer. All photos were then put together as a jpeg sequence using After Effects CS5. Enjoy!
I recently stumbled across a blogger by the name of Philip Bloom who is a filmmaker. Earlier this evening he posted a short film called “Insipiens” that was conceived and shot in around four hours after his 3 day DSLR workshop. It was shot in Mallorca, Spain and features Nina K and Ronald Vonk.
In my opinion much of this film displays the most beautiful type of lighting. The magnificent oranges of dusk beautifully silhouetting the talent. The shot at around 1:27 is absolutely breathtaking, almost is if it was not shot on this world, Again, a wonderful use of natural lighting and contrast.
